We provide intervention and programming based upon evidence-based practices and trauma informed care in a residential setting.
At Prairie Lakes Youth Programs, our team of professionals have years of experience helping high potential youth.
We offer services within our programs and through third party providers within our community including:
substance use disorders, truancy, behavior management, mental health, trauma, and so much more.
We offer an individualize approach to creating treatment plans that include the services that are needed for each youth.

Our approach to residential programming is rooted in empathy, compassion, and non-judgment where youth dignity is ignited. We strive to create a safe and supportive environment where our youth feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings, and where they can develop the skills and tools they need to thrive.
The following services are options available for our youth. The services selected are determined with parents/guardians and the professional team during the intake and individualized treatment planning process. Services provided by a third-party provider include Diagnostic assessments, addiction recovery, substance use treatment, and Rule 25 assessments.
Certified pet therapy dogs work in our programs on a daily basis providing care and comfort to youth
Our youth learn grounding, life and leisure skills through our outdoor gardens in the spring and summer
Our team uses art to connect with youth, igniting healing during group and school
Assessments are completed by third party providers for youth who have a professional team request or court order. We make space available within our facilities for on campus visits from providers as well as off campus visits and telehealth appointments
Youth participate in daily groups using Evidence-Based Practices that are led by our team members
We work with providers in an effort to provide ongoing care after discharge.
Youth in our non-secure and group home programs are guided and supported in off grounds employment opportunities.
Youth have access to high interest, diverse books to read during their stay at PLYP
Daily support and programming guide youth in learning how to interact with dignity toward self & others
Youth participate in SEL classes and groups, guiding them in the skills of healthy interactions
Youth participate in individual therapy thorough third-party providers or can continue with their own provider upon discharge
High School graduates are encouraged and guided to enroll in college or trade programs while at PLYP
Youth in need of a safe place to live are welcome at PLYP
Healing from trauma and adverse childhood experience takes place at PLYP
We provide space within our facilities to a broad variety of independent providers and organizations so that youth in our programs are able to access services they may need without leaving our campus.
Ensuring healthy sibling connections and interaction is key for siblings living at PLYP
We partner with the Willmar Community School District to provide students with credit recovery opportunities while at PLYP
Group and individual SUD treatment is offered through various third-party providers through space provided on campus, off-campus and through telehealth.
Therapy sessions and treatment plans may include family skills growth and development
Healing from grief and abandonment is guided through our memorial flower garden, grief groups, & more
Youth can earn community service hours completing tasks at PLYP and within the Willmar community
Our youth have opportunities to volunteer - giving back within our community
Hands-on learning and practice with life skills prepares our youth to move forward toward independent living
Evidence-Based Practices and curriculum are used by employees in our daily cognitive skills groups
Completed by a third-party provider when the court or professional teams request or determine a need for a rule 25 assessment.
